Out on a Limb is Olympia's new annual venue for experimental dance. Out on a Limb features acclaimed and new choreographers pushing the edge of dance and performance. A dozen choreographers creating nine new works have been chosen to launch this show on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, 2016, at Olympia Family Theater, 612 4th Ave E, Olympia.

The program includes new works by Laura Aschoff; Jacob Bevelacqua; Shannon Gordon; Karen Kirsch; Dena Lee; Mary Nelson, Linda Cooper & Rachel Friedman; Stephen Passero; Maia Shmueli, Javiera Sobarzo & Harrison Chang-Goldsmith; and Sunny Swasey. This diverse group of Olympia and Seattle performers will be incorporating improvisation, spoken word, butoh, athletic movement, live music, art installation, video, and vocalization with and through the medium of the body. The works explore themes of ancient knowledge held in the environment, self-inspiration, recovery from heart failure, a tribute to loved ones passed, the sound of breath, misogyny, sex, culture, repression, uniting of technology and nature, and expression within physical limitations. Please note although the venue is Olympia Family Theater this is not a children’s show; several pieces deal with adult content. This program will be performed two nights.

Out on a Limb is curated by members of RADCO, the Random Acts of Dance Collective and co-sponsored by Company-Y and Motion in Balance Studio. Tickets are $15 and advance sales are recommended due to the limited seating in this small intimate venue. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets.
